Furuhovde here today

MAJOR General Trond Furuhovde, the first chief of the Sri Lanka Monitoring Mission (SLMM) will arrive in Colombo today to evaluate the ceasefire and to explore the possibilities of resuming the stalled peace process immediately after the forthcoming Presidential polls in November sources said.

The present Chief of the SLMM Hagrup Haukland will accompany Maj. Gen Furuhovde to Killinochchi on Wednesday where elaborate discussions will be held on stabilising the ceasefire with the LTTE's political wing leader S.P. Thamilselvan and the head of the Peace Secretariat in Killinochchi S. Pulithevan.
