UNP Presidential Candidate and Opposition Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe inaugurated his post-nomination election campaign on Saturday, addressing a public rally held opposite the Kandy Central Market.

Wickremesinghe urged the masses to vote for him at the forthcoming Presidential Election to win the people's aspirations which are set out in his People's Agenda which gives prominence to end hunger, unemployment and separatism and to bring about a better standard of living, coupled with honourable peace and harmony among all ethnic groups.

He urged the public not to be deceived by false promises, pointing out that he had presented before the people an agenda to end hunger by reducing the prices of essential commodities including milk powder, dhall and sprats.

He assured a better operation of the tsunami rehabilitation process and improvements to defence strategies in line with the needs of the 21st century and a better deal for the police service.

"If you want peace, if you want a united Sri Lanka, if you want better benefits out of the open economy, and a better standard of living, then please vote for me," urged Wickremesinghe.
