French business establishment to construct 100 houses and 10 school buildings

A French business establishment E. LECLERC Group has launched a programme to construct 100 houses and 10 school buildings in tsunami affected areas of Eastern province.

This programme has been handed to MVEES KNIT EXPORTS (PVT) LTD for implementation by the above French establishment. The required fund for the project has been handed over to A. Mathuraveeran, Managing Director of MVECS KNIT EXPORT by this establishment.

Under this project 50 houses in Trincomalee, 25 houses in Thirukovil Pradesha Division in Ampara and 25 houses at Batticaloa will be constructed.

Twenty five houses will be constructed at Kuchchaveli in the Trincomalee District during the first phase. Nine people were killed at this place in one house by the tsunami.

The foundation stone for this project will be laid in the middle part of next month. Each house contains two Bedrooms, a Verandah, Kitchen and an attached Bathroom. The extent of this house is 580 Square feet. Rs. 6 Lakhs will be spent for each house.

The agreement related to this project has been signed with the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development.

A. Mathuraveeran, Managing Director of MVECS Knit Exports (Pvt) Ltd had signed on behalf of the French company with the Secretary of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development.

A. Mathuraveeran and Mrs. Champa, Director of Ministry of Housing and Urban Development exchanged the agreement documents at this function. A.S. Selvaratnam coordinator of Housing Rehabilitation Project was also present at this function.
