Simon Navagaththegama no more

SIMON Navagaththegama, the well known novelist and dramatist expired yesterday at his residence after a brief illness.

Simon (65) was a father of four and was a well known social worker who worked for the uplift of the poor rural folk.

Simon who came to the city from the rustic village was the cynosure of the city dweller with his somewhat controversial novels like "Sansara Aranye Dhadayakkaraya and "Sagara Jalaya Madhi Enduwa Oba Hinda", and the stage drama " Suba Saha Yasa" based on historical events.

Some of the novels he wrote became famous when the small screen captured the minds of its audience. He had won several awards for his literary work.

His funeral arrangements will be notified later.
