No Lankan casualties
THE Sri Lankan High Commission in Islamabad has informed that it has
not received any reports of Sri Lankan casualties following the
earthquake that shook Northern Pakistan on Saturday, October 8, the
Foreign Ministry said yesterday.
The High Commission is continuing to make inquiries to ascertain if
there are any Sri Lankan nationals among those affected. It is also in
contact with Sri Lankan students, military personnel and others.

There are around 500 Lankans in Karachi, Lahore, Faisalabad and
Islamabad. Most Sri Lankans in Pakistan are in the education and textile
sectors.
