Furuhovde arrives on monday
MAJOR General (ret'd) Trond Furuhovde, former head of mission of Sri
Lanka Monitoring Mission, will visit Sri Lanka from October 10 to 18 as
a Special Representative of the Royal Norwegian Government.
Furuhovde will consult with representatives of both the Government of
Sri Lanka and the LTTE seeking their views on the status of the security
situation and the implementation of the Ceasefire Agreement.
Furuhovde will also meet with representatives of the Muslim Peace
Secretariat and the Tokyo Co-chairs, states a Royal Norwegian Embassy
press release.
As a meeting between the Government and the LTTE to discuss the
implementation of the Ceasefire Agreement is not likely to occur in the
near future.
The visit is an opportunity for both parties to propose measures for
strengthening the implementation of the agreement. |
