PS Chairman leads gang attack on PA supporters

A UNP Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman was among three persons arrested by police following an alleged assault on a group who had put up decorations in support of Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapakse in Ambatenna.

The incident took place at around 2.30 a.m. yesterday.

According to police the group was returning home after putting up decorations when they were set upon by 15 member gang allegedly led by the Poojapitiya Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman.

Three PA supporters were admitted to the Kandy and Katugastota hospitals with injuries. Police have also taken a cab belonging to the Chairman.
