Anura returns tomorrow

FOREIGN Affairs and Tourism Minister Anura Bandaranaike will return from New York tomorrow to join in the election campaign of Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapakse in his Presidential bid.

Bandaranaike, who accompanied President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga to the UN World Summit will address rallies in support of the Prime Minister, a source close to Bandaranaike said.

According to the source, Bandaranaike's return, who is the SLFP's Prime Ministerial nominee would strengthen Rajapakse's campaign. Bandaranaike is also scheduled to address a public rally in Kurunegala next week, presided over by the President Kumaratunga, in support of Rajapakse's candidature.

Bandaranaike is also due to participate in several public rallies along with President Kumaratunga in Wattala, Divulapitiya, Mirigama, Attanagalla, Negombo, Ja-Ela and Katana.

During the UN World Summit, Bandaranaike signed the International Convention for the Suppression of Acts of Nuclear Terrorism in New York. (A.G)
