UNP's maiden rally in Kandy

The maiden rally of the United National Party's candidate Ranil Wickremesinghe will be held in Kandy on October 8.

"This will be followed by 118 rallies which will be held countrywide including the East," the Party's Deputy General Secretary Tissa Attanayake told a media briefing yesterday.

He said these rallies will be combined ones which will be held in collaboration with the CWC and SLMC which have pledged their support to Wickremesinghe.

He said after a study of the security situation, the Party will conduct electioneering in the North too.

Attanayake stressed that his Party had prepared plans and programmes to ensure Wickremesinghe's victory.
