Sajith urged to reveal Jana Suvaya details

SLFP Presidential Campaign Spokesman Mangala Samaraweera yesterday demanded UNP Hambantota district Parliamentarian Sajith Premadasa to reveal all transactions pertaining to the Jana Suvaya fund.

Samaraweera addressing journalists at the 'Dinawamu Sri Lanka' media conference at the SLFI yesterday, said the UNP, unable to digest the reality of impending defeat at the Presidential election on November 17, is aimlessly slinging mud referring to the entertainment and other expenditure of the Premier, to tarnish his good image.

"The UNP is first obliged to reveal all transactions pertaining to the Jana Suvaya fund of Sajith Premadasa, to which large amounts of funds have come into, in foreign currency.

Without providing a detailed account of same, the UNP has no legal or moral right to make slanderous statements about our Presidential candidate's 'Helping Hambantota' account or make any statements on his expenditure at Temple trees.

Had Sajith Premadasa transferred the Jana Suvaya funds to a Government account,?" Samaraweera queried. He urged the UNP to publish details of the Jana Suvaya at least now, through the media.

Responding to a query from a journalist as to the loss of support to Mahinda Rajapakse from the SLMC and the CWC, Samaraweera said that although the party leaders of the SLMC and CWC have pledged their support to the UNP, the majority of the Muslim and the Estate Tamils will not endorse their leaders' views, and will rally round Rajapakse.
