Annual prize giving
The annual prize giving of Lyceum International School Nugegoda, will
be held at the Bandaranaike International Conference Hall, tomorrow at
4.00 p.m.
Prof. G.L. Pieris will be the chief guest on the invitation of Mohan
Lal Grero, founder and Managing Director of Lyceum International Schools
and Kumari Grero, Principal, Lyceum International School, Nugegoda.
Grero said all students who brought national and international
reputation to the school in various fields during 2004-2005 will be
felicitated.
Urumayaka Ulpath
The 21st step of the Urumayaka Ulpath programme will be telecast on
Sunday at 8.30 a.m. on Sirasa TV. This is a discussion between Milinda
Moragoda and Chief Incumbent of the Anuradhapura Rathnamalee
Chaithyaramaya, Pallegama Hemaratana Thera.
This discussion is based on the art of Sri Lanka's, ancient sculpture
and the facts for losing of ancient technology of constructing lakes and
dagabas. They will discuss about the development through our historical
technology.
Exhibition and Competition postponed
The astronomy and space science exhibition and competition scheduled
for October 8 and 9 has been postponed to October 28 to 30. The deadline
for receiving applications for the competition has been extended to
October 14.
Dr. Chandana Jayaratne, Consultant on Astronomy to the Arthur C.
Clarke Institute said this exhibition is organised to celebrate the 60
years of land mark event in global communication - the publication of
Sir Arthur C. Clarke's famous concept paper on how to use satellites for
communication purposes in 1945 (in Wireless World magazine).
The exhibition, special guest lectures, night sky observation camps
using the telescope etc., is open to the public.
School Assessment Day
An appraisal day has been organised today at all schools having
classes from Grades 6 to 13. This will give parents and teachers an
opportunity to evaluate the teaching process in the schools, the
Education Ministry said.
This will also help solve any questions and problems that parents may
be having on school based assessment programmes, the Ministry said.
Schools have also been instructed to hold exhibition depicting
various creations by students.
DS Ninnada
DS Ninnada Broadcasting Service managed by D. S. Senanayake Vidyalaya
Communication Unit will commence today and will continue for three days.
FM 96.1 channel will broadcast programmes in all three languages 24
hours a day. |
