Ceylinco Life adjudged Asia's best in Corporate Social
Responsibility
Ceylinco Life created history this week by winning the Asia's first
ever Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) award for the insurance
sector at the 9th Asia Insurance Industry Awards in Singapore.
A panel of judges comprising 22 international insurance sector
personalities received more than 600 nominations for 14 award categories
and this year's event was the most competitive to-date.
Commenting on the company's achievement, Ceylinco Insurance Chairman
Dr. Lalith Kotelawala said that they were pleased that industry watchers
like Asia Insurance Review and a panel of judges comprising of our peers
have adjudged Ceylinco Life the Corporate Social responsibility leader
in the region.
In their publication of the 2005 Roll of Honour, the organisers of
the Asia Insurance Industry Awards said: In a country where there has
been so much ethnic-based tension, it is fitting that the inaugural
award for Corporate Social Responsibility should be given to a company
that makes much out of its work across all parts of Sri Lankan society."
Among other award winners at the gala event were industry giants such
as AFLAC and Mitsui Sumitomo of Japan, Central Re, Jardine Lloyd
Thompson Asia and NTUC Income of Singapore.(AGP) |
