Maiden UNP rally in Kandy
 

THE UNP will kick off its Presidential Election campaign from Kandy on October 8, after its Presidential Candidate Opposition Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe hands over his nomination papers in Colombo on October 7.

Accordingly, the maiden UNP Presidential Election rally will be held opposite the Kandy Public Market at 2 p.m on October 8 presided by Wickremesinghe, said UNP Kandy District Parliamentarian Keheliya Rambukwella who is also the President of the Kandy District UNP organisation.

Wickremesinghe will participate in religious observances at the Sri Dalada Maligawa Kandy on October 7 at 6 p.m. This will also include a 84,000 Pahan Pinkama in front of the Maligawa.

On October 8, Wickremesinghe will call on the Malwatte and Asgiriya prelates at their respective Viharayas and receive their blessings.

Thereafter, he will visit the Sri Vinayagar Hindu Kovil, and Meera Makkam Mosque, Kandy and St. Anthony's Church, Katugastota and participate in Hindu, Islamic and Christian religious observances the same morning before attending the maiden rally, said Rambukwella.
