Kelaart Burgher Association President

AUCTIONEER Dunstan Kelaart was elected as the second president of the Burgher Association at its fourth Annual General Meeting at the BMICH last Saturday.

Kelaart installed the Association Executive Committee 2005/2006.

Trevor Ludowyke was sworn in as Vice President, Yvonne Don Paul Secretary and Marie Adholphus Treasurer.

The other Executive Committee Members are Audrey Sahid, Hans Beekmeyer, Leroy Ferdinand, Marlon Bakelmun, Lincoln Pereira, Jerome Fernando, Helene Adams, Dawn De Kretzer, Roger Quyn, Leon Daniels, Stevenson Morrell and Emil Kronemberg.

Kelaart in his inaugural address outlined his vision and mission for Sri Lanka's Burgher community.

He emphasised the fact that the Burghers are a distinct community who have made a sizeable contribution to the development of Sri Lanka and should not be forgotten for want of Leadership.

Kelaart wished to build a strong and vibrant Association for all Burghers to live in dignity and honour and be useful citizens of Sri Lanka.

His mission is to promote the extraordinary talents of Burghers in education, sports, music, medicine, science, industry, commerce or any other skills they may possess and to lend a helping hand to all Burghers in need.

The Burgher Association was founded in October 13, 2001 by Maxi Rozairo.

The Association has 1750 active Members. Its headquarters is at 393, YWCA Premises, Union Place, Colombo 2.
