Special felicitation for President

A special felicitation to President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga for her contribution towards education development in the past decade, will be held at the BMICH on September 29.

'Education for Economic Development and Prosperity' will be the theme of the felicitation ceremony organised by the Ministry of Education.

All past education ministers, secretaries, all key provincial education officials, University Chancellors, Vice Chancellors, Deans, teachers, principals and school prefects will be invited for the occasion.

Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapakse, Opposition Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe and Speaker W.J.M. Lokubandara will be special guests.

The contribution of President Kumaratunga towards initiating new education reforms, competency based modernised curricular, examinations and textbooks, improving school infrastructure, management and governance will be featured at this function.

The key initiatives taken towards modernising the school and university education systems and the focus of the Education Development in reaching economic prosperity, will be highlighted at this function, an Education Ministry media release stated.
