High demand for aircraft engineering
by Ramani Kangaraarachchi
"The job market demand for qualified aircraft engineers is extremely
high in the aviation industry worldwide. It is so high that aviation
training institutions find it difficult to cope with the demand.
Deputy Director Studies of the Asian Aviation Centre Dhananjaya
Weerasinghe addressing parents, students and the staff of AAC at the
inauguration of 5th intake of the course leading to Kingston University
Foundation Degree in Aircraft Engineering said that the job of an
aircraft engineer is to certify that an aircraft is fit to fly after
completing a major repair of maintenance task, undertaken by aircraft
maintenance technicians. The AAC is capable of producing talented
engineers, he said.
At the end of the two year course at AAC, students would be entitled
to the foundation degree in aircraft engineering awarded by the Kingston
University.
They have the option of joining an airline to gain the experience for
the JAR 66 licenses or to proceed to Kingston University UK to complete
the top up year and qualify for the BEng (Hons) degree in aircraft
engineering. The next course will commence in September 2006. |
