Kit Premier League soccer championships : Ratnam remains on top

Ratnam Sports Club managed to maintain the top position in the Kit Premier League soccer championships when they defeated Jupiters SC of Negombo one goal to nil at Negombo over the weekend. This gave the much needed points to strengthen their lead 16 points. P. H. N. Pushpakumara netted the goal for Ratnam.

Air Force who played against Army SC at army grounds overcame their opponents on their home ground 1-0. The solitary goal for Airmen came from the boot of Chaminda Steinwall. Army's Lasantha Kumar was sent off the field for rough play by the officiating referee.

Saunders Sports Club who was placed right at the bottom of the table managed to reach the eighth position when they drew their game against Blue Star Sports Club Kalutara three all. The highlight of the game came from veteran soccerite Mohamed Amanulla who scored all three goals for the Pettah Club.

Last weekend two matches between Negombo Sports Club vs Police SC and Java Lane Sports Club vs Renown SC at Sports Ministry ground and City League ground had to be postponed due to bad weather conditions. Java Lane Sports Club has dropped to the bottom of the points table after six matches.

In the segment 'B' Navy SC who were on top continued to stay at that position with 17 points from seven games. Navy has maintained an unbeaten record so far winning five games and drawing two. Last weekend Navy SC drew with New Youngs Sports Club from Wenappuwa nil-all.

In the same segment Old Bens too had to settle for a draw with Red Sun Sports Club from Gampola nil-all. This match was played at City League ground. The third game of the weekend in the segment B saw Matara SC overcome Super Beach SC two goals to nil at Matara. Super Beach Sports Club is placed right at the bottom of the segment B points table with only four points from six games.
