Murder of Yvonne Jonsson : CID directed to submit report

Colombo Chief Magistrate and Additional District Judge Ms. Sarojini Kusala Weerawardena directed the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) probing the murder of fashion designer Yvonne Jonsson, to forward a comprehensive report in connection with their investigations to court on September 27.

The CID filing a further report before court had said that they have forwarded the dossier of the investigations to the Attorney General for his advice to take further action against the suspect in custody.

Earlier the Magistrate allowed an application by the CID to forward, several items collected at the scene of the incident including fingerprints, palm prints and blood stained clothes from the suspect's house to the Government Analyst.

Suspect Sharman Jude Anthony Jayamaha was remanded till September 27.

The CID also told court that the body parts found at the scene were sent to the Government Analyst to obtain a DNA test.

President's Counsel Daya Perera, President's Counsel Mohan Peiris with Shanaka Ranasinghe, Buddhika Jayasinghe and Nishadha Gamage appeared for the suspect.
