ACHC appeals to Elections Commissioner

The All Ceylon Hindu Congress (ACHC) wants the Commissioner of Elections to hold the forthcoming Presidential Election after November 8 as the Kandhasashdi Fast which begins on November 2 ends on November 8.

In a letter to the Commissioner of Elections, All Ceylon Hindu Congress Secretary Kandiah Neelakandan has requested the Commissioner to fix a date for Presidential Election after November 8 as the period beginning from November 2 to 8 is an important fast observed by the Hindus. The Hindus also offer poojas during this period, he added in his letter.
