Doctors not on strike - GMOA

The GMOA yesterday announced that Government doctors are not on strike.

Clarifying press reports, the GMOA said it is not the government doctors who are on strike but a group of Medical Assistants who are on strike.

However, the GMOA is concerned that there is a wave of strikes launched by various trade unions principally due to the insensitivity and the inability of the Tissa Devendra Commission.

The Commission has been in existence for 18 months. Despite there existence there is still no Wage Policy. The striking of Medical Assistants is only a ripple. The Commission must take action before the ripple becomes a storm, the GMOA said.
