A true son of Lanka
Exalted
one in his sojourn in Sansara
Perfecting the Parami virtues
Sacrificed his body to save just born cubs
From the jaws of ravenous
mother - tigress
He a monk in deep mediation
With compassion for the suffering
fellow beings
Donated a body - part to our Kadir
To extend the elixir of life
Imbued by "Light of Asia"
Calmed by soothing Pirith
Nourished by the essence of our cultures
In his heart blossomed a flower of
social harmony
In that august body of United Nations
His quintessential oration
On the horror of genocidal Terror
Was a ringing plea for urgent action
He won resounding accolades
But incurred the wrath of ruthless tigers
His epilogue "For Whom the Bell Tolls"
Was a presaging premonition of
impending shadow
The stalking Tiger thirsting for blood
Made his lair in the neighbour's upstair
Waiting, waiting and waiting
For his kill to come within the ranger
Kadir emerged from the refreshing pool
To step into the cosy soul hour
Tiger sprang with a bang
And silenced the "Voice of Asia"
