Prime Minister and SLFP Presidential candidate Mahinda Rajapakse in a communique issued by the Prime Minister's office thanks all Ministers, Parliamentarians, district electoral organisers, Provincial and regional ministers and members and Chief Ministers, Municipal Council members, Mercantile and State sector trade unions, various civil society organisations and the people for their cooperation and assistance rendered in making the 54th Commemoration Anniversary a resounding success.

In the face of difficulties and constraints, the Sinhalese, Muslims, Tamils among others have rallied together and helped to make this great event a success in numerous ways, the communique further states.
