Four students from Royal College, Colombo, Hindu College, Jaffna, Mahinda Vidyalaya, Galle and Mahamaya Balika Vidyalaya, Kandy have scored the island's best results for the four streams at the GCE Advanced Level examination in June 2005.

The Examinations Department released 2005 GCE Advanced Level results yesterday, right on schedule for the universities to begin admissions as planned this year.

According to the results T.A. Dileepa Sandaruwan Perera of Royal College who secured a Z-score of 3.1619 came island best in the Bio stream while S. Mayoopran of Hindu college, Jaffna has scored best in the physical science stream.

Lanka Priyadarshana Sampath of Mahinda Vidyalaya with a Z-score of 2.6494 is the commerce stream best and Chathurika Jeevani Senanayake of Mahamaya Balika Vidyalaya, Kandy with a Z-score of 2.5171 came best in the Arts stream.
