Commercial Bank wins The Banker of London 'Bank of the Year' award
Commercial Bank of Ceylon has been adjudged Sri Lanka's Bank of the
Year for a milestone fifth consecutive year by 'The Banker' the
prestigious UK-based magazine that serves the international banking
community.
The magazine's annual ratings, published in its September 2005 issue,
followed an in-depth scrutiny of strong performances and specific
initiatives undertaken in 2004 by more than 2000 banks worldwide.
According to 'The Banker' the competitiveness of the magazine's awards
have increased year-on-year, making these awards the premier titles to
win for banks and financial institutions.
Commenting on this major accolade, Commercial Bank Managing Director
Amitha Gooneratne said: "All of us at Commercial Bank are elated at this
nomination. It was only made possible because of our firm commitment to
improving shareholder value whilst safeguarding and promoting the
interests of all other stakeholders." "This commitment has also helped
us to face and successfully overcome the problems peculiar to Sri
Lanka," he added.
"Awards and accolades such as this will only strengthen our resolve
to work even harder." |
