Lemonade Cricket sixes on Oct. 1 and 2
The 13th annual invitation inter schools' Lemonade Cricket Sixes
organized by the Old Wesleyites Sports Club and sponsored by Ceylon Cold
Stores will be held on October 1 and 2 at Campbell Park. 24 teams will
take part on a knock out basis in this year's tournament. The following
teams have confirmed their participation.
Royal College, St, Thoma's College, St. Joseph's College, St. Peter's
College, Ananda College, Nalanda College, Prince of Wales College, St.
Sebastian's College, St. Benedict's College, Thurstan College and Wesley
College.
The following teams D. S. Senanayake College, Isipathana College,
Zahira College, Carey College, Holy Cross Kalutara, Presidents College,
Lumbini College, Kalutara Vidyalaya, Sri Sumangala Panadura, De Mazenod
Kandana, Jaffna District, Vavuniya District and Batticaloa District have
confirmed their participation in writing.
The tournament as previously will be conducted on a knockout basis
and will be played on a matting surface starting at 8 a.m. on both days.
Schoolboys eligible to represent their respective schools for the
forthcoming cricket seasons (2005/06) will be eligible to participate in
this tournament.
The winners will be presented with the Lemonade Trophy and the
runners-up will be presented with the Old Wesleyites Sports Club Trophy.
Awards will also be presented to the Best Batsman, Best Bowler, Best
Fielder and Best Allrounder of the Tournament. Awards will also be
presented to the Man of the Final and the Most Valuable Player of the
Tournament.
The 1st day's play (October 1 Saturday) will be aired live on radio
through the Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation, and the 2nd Day's Play
(October 2 Sunday) will be aired live on television on Rupavahini's Eye
Channel.
A three-member technical Committee will be appointed to take all
decisions with regards the tournament and their findings and
recommendations will be final, conclusive and binding.
The draw for the said tournament will be held on September 15 at the
club premises at 6.30 p.m. |
