hSenid develops successful HR applications

"At a time that IT was in its infant age in Sri Lanka, a young computer engineer mastered this field in the USA and returned to serve the motherland with a vision. That was the emergence of hSenid Software International by Dinesh Saparamadu in 1997.

The company has become a pioneer IT company specialising in human resource application during a short period of time.

hSenid is today a leading supplier of payroll applications, human resource management applications, time and expense tracking software, line stock updates and internet based payroll software in the country and owned 70 per cent market share locally. Their clients include several major financial institutions, telecom and insurance companies in Sri Lanka, Sri Lankan Air and Lucent Technologies Singapore, Todo in USA.

When dinesh returned to the country in 1996; he found that HR application area has been neglected and realised that there is a niche market for this area in the industry. He was able to convince people to get business but the most difficult thing was to find people to work as there were no trained people. It was then that his brother Sujith Saparamadu who is also a computer engineer living in the USA came to Sri Lanka and trained some people required by him.'

"My mother gave me all the strength to do all these" Saparamadu said recollecting its humble beginning years ago.

Today he has been able to provide employment to over 125 in his company in Sri Lanka and has offices in USA, Singapore too supplying quality software products and services to its customers worldwide.

"There is enormous employment opportunities for young people in the IT field but they need proper guidance to receive training from recognised places like the Colombo University he said.

Dinesh has a Bachelor of Science degree in computer engineering and a Masters of Science in Computer Science from the University of Bridgeport in Connecticut USA. He began his career with Aetna Life and Casualty, Connecticut in USA and thereafter worked at Pepsi Cola, Somers as a software engineer, and was responsible for the successful implementation of many nationwide information technology projects. Through his wide experience Saparamadu has expanded hSenid 's focus into mobile application, and outsourcing other than HR application.

The company was presented a number of awards at National Best Quality Software Awards held by British Computer Society, Sri Lanka. Among them hdirect Silver Award 2004, Stock 1 Merit award 2004, Wireless i banco Bronze Award 2003, HRM Enterprise Merit award 2003, mTime Tracker, and ePayroll 2000 2nd runner up award 2002.

The company was also presented an award at Ericsson International Mobile applications Awards 2004.

hSenid one of the sponsors at the National Free and Open Source Software Development (FOSS) week which commenced on September 5th at the BMICH with the Lanka Software Foundation, which is a non profitable institution where he is a Director. 'I consider It as a corporate social responsibility to help the open source community to develop exceptional products.

I am also, conducting computer training for the children at the Maligawatte Centre for disabled to build the community', he said.
