Lankan girls off to a flying start

SINGAPORE. Sri Lanka launched their campaign for the sixth Asian netball championships with an easy 60-22 victory over Hong Kong in their opening match of the tournament played in Singapore yesterday.

Sri Lanka took an early lead and led 13-9 after the first quarter of play. They consolidated their position and went on to build up a commanding 30-12 lead at the end of the second quarter. Sri Lanka completely sealed the game by taking a massive 41-17 lead at the end of the third quarter and went on to complete a rousing victory.

Sri Lanka's next outing will be against Thailand. In another group match Singapore defeated India 96-8.
