Ex-Army women expand wings

Ex-Army Womens' Association expanded its wings for the benefit of their retired members living in Anuradhapura district by establishing a branch with the assistance of 4th Regiment of Army Womens Corps in Madawachchiya recently.

A team headed by President Army Seva Vanitha Unit Sonia Kottegoda including President Ex Army Womens' Association Captain Victoria Lakshmi visited all the retired and the serving members gathered at Madawachchiya Army Camp discussed their problems and shared their experiences with other members.

A Committee was appointed from the retired members and a serving member living in Anuradhapura to co-ordinate matters with the association in the future. A number of copies from the novel "Private Devi" were handed over to the committee to raise funds for their administration.

Captain Victoria Lakshmi appreciating the support giving by Army Seva Vanitha Unit and the Commanding Officer Madawachchiya Army Camp said that the extending our support to the members living far away from Colombo who are unable to stay in touch with the association was a long felt need and it became a reality because of the Army Seva Vanitha Unit. She hoped to take these benefits to the members in other districts such as Kandy, Kurunegala and Matara where a large number of ex-Army women reside.
