Young professionals for travel and tourism industry

The first certificate presentation ceremony of the Airwing Tours - Travel and Tourism Education Centre was held at The Palace Hotel in Negombo, recently.


Secretary, Ministry of Tourism, Dr. P. Ramanujam, awarding a certificate.

Chief guest Tourism Ministry SecretaryDr. P. Ramanujam, said that there will be a Japan aided programme in 2006 to improve infrastructure facilities and uplift the environmental aspects in Negombo and requested the Negombo Hoteliers' Association to talk to the community of the area to get the support of the local communities for this development project.

The certificates were presented by the chief guest Dr. P. Ramanujam, Secretary, Ministry of Tourism, and Donald Kurian, Sales Coordinator, SriLankan Airlines and Merril Kuruppu, President, Negombo Hoteliers' Association.

The best two students were awarded employment opportunities at Airwing Tours (Pvt) Ltd. The students were followed the "Airline Fares and Ticketing Course" and "Tour Operations In-Bound Travel Course". Another six months "Hotelier Course" is on going at present.

Considering the response received for the programmes Airwing plans to launch another course on "Airline Fares and Ticketing".
