Royal Park murder: Dossier forwarded to AG
 

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) probing the murder of fashion designer Yvonne Jonsson yesterday filing a further report before the Colombo Additional Magistrate Amalee Ranaweera said they have forwarded the dossier of the investigations into the murder to the Attorney General for his advice to take further action against the suspect now in custody.

Sub Inspector Ranjith Munasinghe of the CID, who appeared for the prosecution, told court that they had recorded statements from nine persons including the officials of the "Avant Guard" security firm who are handling the security at the Royal Park housing complex at Rajagiriya.

Earlier, the Magistrate allowed an application by the CID to forward, several items collected at the scene of the incident including fingerprints, palm prints and blood stained clothes from the house of the suspect to the Goverment Analayst.

On an application by the Senior Defence Counsel, President's Counsel Daya Perera the Magistrate directed the prison authorities to provide maximum security for the suspect when he is brought to court and taken back to the remand prison. Suspect Sharman Jude Anthony Jayamaha was remanded till August 29.

The CID also told court that the body parts found at the scene were sent to the Government Analyst to obtain a DNA test.

President's Counsel Daya Perera, President's Counsel Mohan Peiris with Shanaka Ranasinghe and Nishedha Gamage appeared for the suspect.
