Kadirgamar assassination:

Special team to probe several clues

The Colombo Crime Division (CCD) probing the assassination of Foreign Minister Lakshman Kadirgamar jointly with the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) had deployed a special squad to investigate several clues in connection with the assassination. Earlier the investigators took two suspects into custody who are alleged to have involved in the killing.

CCD Director Senior SP Sarath Lugoda directing investigation had questioned over 40 persons and recorded their statements in connection with the assassination of Kadirgamar. The Colombo Additional Magistrate Ajith Anawaratne yesterday allowed an application by the investigators to send several items including cigarette butts collected at the house to the Government Analysts.
