Maha Perahera tomorrow
 

The Maha Perahera, the grand finale of the Kandy Esala Perahera will parade the streets of Kandy tomorrow night with all the pomp and pageantry.

The final Randoli Perahera will commence at 8.40 p.m. on August 19 from the Dalada Maligawa and proceed along Dalada Veediya, Yatinuwara Veediya, Kande Veediya, D. S. Senanayake Veediya and King Street.

The fourth Randoli Perahera will be held tonight. It will commence at 8.35 p.m. from the Maligawa and proceed along Dalada Veediya, Kotugodella Veediya, Bennet Soysa Veediya, King Street, Kotugodella Veediya, Kande Veediya, D. S. Senanayake Veediya and King Street and return to the Maligawa.

Diyawadana Nilame Nilanga Dela Bandara and Basnayake Nilames R. M. Navaratne, Mohan Panabokke, Ranjith Ellegala and Mohan Paranagama will participate in the respective peraheras. Meanwhile, in keeping with an age-old tradition, the Veddha community from Dambana visited the Dalada Maligawa, Kandy, carrying pots of bees honey and offered them to the Sacred Tooth Relic. Special security network is implemented within the city of Kandy.

This security arrangement is implemented under the directions of DIG Central Province Nimal Mediwaka assisted by SSP Kandy Division E.M. Gunatilleke Banda.

The third Randoli Perahera of the historic Kandy Perahera paraded the streets of Kandy last night with all age-old rituals being performed.
