The Building Materials Corporation opened their Super Store complex at its headquarters at Sangaraja Mawatha, Colombo by Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapakse yesterday. Minister of Housing and Construction Industry Eastern Province Education and Irrigation Development Ferial Ashraff, Deputy Minister Chandrasiri Gajadeera and BMC Chairman Lalith Andrahennadi were present. This is the first time a fully facilitated sales centre for building materials, where public and private sector is jointly represented, is established. An exhibition displaying latest developments in the construction industry, building materials and the progress in house construction in Sri Lanka. The exhibition would conclude on July 31. In addition to BMC, other importers of building materials both in public and private sectors are given the opportunity to market their products at their permanent sales outlets assigned to them in the sales centre. Transport services to carry the goods to required destinations would be also provided. The concept behind this Super Sales Centre is to facilitate the house builders and other constructors to purchase building materials and other accessories of higher quality from one location at competitive rates.
