Presidential Film Awards Festival

The Presidential Film Award Festival for 2004 will be held at BMICH today with President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga as chief guest.

The award ceremony is organised by the National Film Corporation. It is being held after four years. The Colombo International Film Festival held prior to the Presidential Film Award Festival opened at the Cinecity film complex on July 22 and concluded yesterday. Two film workshops were held at the BMICH on July 19 and 22. They were organised by the Cinema and Television Training Institute of Pune, India.

In addition to the granting of awards to films screened in 2004, two film artistes will receive the prestigious Swarna Sinha Award for their lifetime services. Meanwhile, eight film artistes who brought international fame to Sri Lanka will receive the Vishva Keerthi Award.
