Solution likely for LTTE transport issue - SLMM

A top level meeting on the LTTE's transport issue in the North and East was held with the Sri Lanka Monitoring Mission (SLMM) Chiefs of three Armed Forces and the Peace Secretariat at the Ministry of Defence yesterday.

SLMM spokesperson Helen Olafsdottir told the Daily News that the meeting was satisfactory and the SLMM was looking forward to a settlement acceptable to both parties.

"I cannot reveal the whole proceedings of yesterday's meeting, but it ended on a positive note as far as the SLMM is concerned," Olafsdottir said.

There would be another meeting on Monday at the Defence Ministry where a settlement is likely to be reached on the LTTE's transport issue.
