Three Indian movies today

THREE Indians movies will be screened at the Colombo International Film Festival which will be held at the Cine City Cinema Complex, Maradana today.

10.30 am Heda-Hoda - a movie woven around a couple and their son - Sonu and daughter Lakshmi living in Dhrang which is a sleepy village in the North-West arid region of Kutch.

One day, Sonu unwittingly crosses the border and reaches someone's house in Pakistan. Pakistani headmaster Razak and his wife Mariam are scared.

At night, Razak surreptitiously takes Sonu across the border with the promise to deliver camels at the border check post. The experience however has opened out the world for Sonu and that leads to further adventures.

3.00 pm An Ode to Lost Love - This film is woven around Susmitha, a first time actress and M who is a director of photography. On the first day of the shooting of Pramod's film Silent Scream, he introduces Susmitha to M. M is reminded of Asha, a girl who had once loved and lost.

7.00 pm Chameli - The film is set in stormy night in Mumbai. In two different parts of the city, two strangers get ready for the night.

Aman Kapoor 34, an investment banker drags himself to a party he has reluctantly thrown. Chameli, a woman of the night, readies herself for her hours of business. Both hate the rain.Their worlds are different. But for one night, Aman is compelled to share the footpath with Chameli.

Three Iranian films will be screened tomorrow.

10.30 am Dakhil - According to his father's vows, Akbar is to stab his head since he has come to age, according to tradition. Akbar disagrees with his father's will and gets away.

A stranger with his daughter enters the village but is condemned by the inhabitants. Learning that the girl is paralysed, Akbar decides to give his calf as a sacrifice for his new friend.

3.00 pm Cinderella - Goli and Razi come from the most humble origins of Iranian society. In their search for happiness, they play roles of Cinderella and The Prince.

7.00 pm White Nights - Filling his quiet and lonely life with reading and teaching literature, a young professor is gradually losing his faith in literary subjects when he meets a young girl who has made life changing decisions for her beloved's sake. This encounter spurts dramatic changes in the lives and beliefs of both.
