Australian tycoon praises Lanka's judiciary

JAMES Scobie, one of the chief foreign shareholders of Ruhunu 2001 Multivision (Private) Limited, Anderson Road, Colombo 5, praised Sri Lanka's judiciary for its sense of fairness and justice saying this would encourage them to consider additional investment within Sri Lanka in future.

James was quoting a recent judgement of the Supreme Court.

The Supreme Court recently refused Special Leave to Appeal and dismissed an application by Hettiarachchi Group appealing from the order of the High Court in suspending an enjoining order that had been obtained exparte on suppressions and misrepresentations of material facts.

The Supreme Court Bench Comprised Justice T. B. Weerasuriya, Justice Shirani Tillekawardena and Justice Saleem Marsoof PC.
