Nepali rebels ambush security convoy killing one

KATHMANDU, Thursday (Xinhua) At least one securityman was killed and 11 others injured, when the anti-government guerrillas ambushed security convoy in eastern Nepal, district police office said here.

"At least one army personnel was killed and 11 others injured when security convoy fell prey to the guerrillas planted booby trap in Siraha district, some 200 southeast of Kathmandu," the district police office said in a press statement.

The incident occurred in Todke Asanpur area of the district along the east-west Mahendra Highway of Nepal at around 9 a.m. local time (0315 GMT), the statement said, adding "the injured includes eight army men and three police constables."Those injured seriously have been rushed to a hospital in Dharan in eastern Nepal, while the others are undergoing treatment at local Lahan Hospital, the statement noted.
