Travel Trade VB C'ships on July 30

SERENDIB Leisure Management for the fourth successive year will sponsor the 16th Annual Travel Trade Sports club Volleyball Championships 2005, on Saturday, 30th July at Sir Albert F. Peiris Stadium, Wennappuwa, commencing 8.30 a.m.35 teams will vie for honours to take home the Serendib Cup, "Plate" and the "Bowl".

There are 17 teams from the southern coast, Nine teams from the west coast, three teams from the Cultural Triangle, one team from Kandy, Sri Lankan Airlines "A" & "B" the only airline & the three Colombo five star hotels, Trans Asia Hotel, Taj Samudra Hotel and Hilton Colombo Residence.

Teams from the South are: (17)- Golden Sun Resort, Club Palm Garden, Eden Hotel, Hibiscus Beach, Bentota Beach, Lanka Princes Hotel, Taj Exortica, Bentota "A" & "B", Saman Villas "A" & "B", Bejaya Mt. Royal, Mount Lavinia Hotel, The Blue Water, Tangarine/Royal Palms, Serendib Hotel, Siddhalepa Ayurveda Health Resort, Light House Hotel, Spa Galle and Oasis Hotel, Hambantota.

Teams form Negombo: (09)- Club Hotel Dolphin, Browns Beach, Ayurveda Pavilions, Sea Shells "A" & "B", Goldi Sands, Taj Airport Garden, Blue Oceanic & Club Palm Bay, Marawila.

Team from Cultural Triangle: (03)- The Village Habarana, The Lodge Habarana & Culture Club.

The lone team from the hills is Hotel Citadel, Kandy.

Last year Village Habarana won the "Cup", Sri Lankan Airlines won the "Plate" and Hibiscus Hotel won the "Bowl".

Special Awards will be presented to the Best Setter, Best Blocker, Best Spiker, Most Outstanding Player, the Most Promising Player and the Most UP and Coming Player.

The official sponsorship handing over ceremony was held on Wednesday, 20th July at the Serendib Leisure Management premises at the Automobile Association building, Colombo 2.

Associated with the event were, Serendib Leisure's, Director Operations S. Anandarajah, Director Human Resources, and The Marshal of the tournament, Ronnie Perera, President of the Travel Trade Sports Club, Keethi Jayaweera and TTSC's Sports Events Co-ordinator, Tyrone Perera.
