New Investigations Unit at Public Administration Ministry

PUBLIC Administration and Home Affairs Deputy Minister Pandu Bandaranayake said yesterday that steps have been taken to establish a new Investigation Unit under his Ministry to conduct inquiries into public complaints on irregularities and shortcomings under the Ministry purview.

He said the new unit will have 35 graduates recruited recently under the Government's graduate employment programme.

These recruits who will be designated as Investigation Assistants will be given a two months preliminary training covering Administrative Regulations, Tender Procedure and Disciplinary Action Procedure before they assume regular duties.

The Deputy Minister made this disclosure when he addressed the inaugural training session of the new Investigation Unit at the Ministry auditorium.

Ministry Secretary D.Dissanayake, Additional Secretary G. Hettiarachchi, Public Service Training Institute Director Sunil Abeywardena, Instructor S.A.Ekanayake and Combined Services Director B.G. Karunaratne also participated.
