Unprecedented boost for Ceylon Tea in China

THE Regional Tea Promotion Unit attached to the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Tokyo under whose purview the neighbouring Far Eastern tea markets such as South Korea and China are classified, undertook a promotional exercise recently to penetrate the large Chinese consumer market with Ceylon orthodox Black Tea.

ITN, CBNSat launch satellite digital video broadcast

INDEPENDENT Television Network (ITN) became the first Sri Lankan television channel to launch Satellite Digital Video Broadcast (DVB-S) Direct To Home (DTH). "Television was introduced to Sri Lanka by ITN, 26 years ago and there are around 10 TV channels, now in operation but there is not a single TV channel possessing the digital technology," said Chairman, ITN, Newton Gooneratne.
