SI, Constable interdicted

A reserve Sub-Inspector and a Police Constable attached to the Peliyagoda Police Station were interdicted on Friday by the Western Province North DIG Asoka Wijetillake, following a post-mortem report of Colombo JMO Dr. L.B.L. Alwis that the suspect who was taken into custody died due to injuries caused by a blunt weapon.

The two policemen had arrested the suspect following a complaint made to the Peliyagoda police regarding a loss of a hand phone set, according to the investigation conducted by SP Kelaniya and the suspect was taken by these two policemen to trace the hand phone.

Following the post-mortem report DIG Wijetillake handed over the investigation against the two policemen to Negombo SP Marasinghe. DIG Wijetilleke has also instructed SP Negombo to produce the two policemen before the Colombo Chief Magistrate and Additional District Judge Sarojini Kusala Weerawardena and move for remand until the completion of the investigation.
