Police recover stolen vehicle from LTTE camp

A team of police detectives from Chilaw recently recovered a vehicle stolen from Madurankuliya from a LTTE camp in Vavuniya. The Hi-Ace van has been driven away from Madampe after the driver was threatened at gunpoint by a gang. Police received a tip-off that the van has been driven into an uncleared area in Omanthai.

With the co-operation of LTTE members in the area, they searched four LTTE camps and found the van in the Kurumanthadu camp.

The LTTE leaders at the camp handed over the van to police after police proved that it had been stolen. One suspect has been arrested in this connection.

Further investigations are being conducted by Chilaw SSP Gamini Amarakoon and a team of police officers.
