Employment for every graduate assured - Justice Minister

Justice and Judicial Reforms Minister W.D.J. Seneviratne on Monday assured employment opportunities to every graduate who underwent a training course under the Government's unemployed graduate scheme.

He was speaking at the handing over of appointment letters to 28 graduates who completed training under the Justice and Judicial Reforms Ministry at the Ministry Auditorium.

Altogether 206 graduates would be absorbed into the Ministry in stages, The graduates absorbed into the Ministry yesterday, were appointed as Program Assistants (Mediation).

The Minister said that no graduates who underwent training under their program need to be apprehensive of being deprived of a job since they would get their opportunity at some stage, in the government sector. "As a result of a decision by the government soon after it was elected these graduates received employment in the Government sector", Minister said adding they should all render their services for the betterment of the country."

He further said that the Mediation Board has become more popular in the country as an easy means to solve problems without going before the courts.

The mediation program has been extended even to school level and the newly appointed graduates have to play a major role in the school mediation program.

Justice Ministry Secretary Suhadha Gamlath said that it was pathetic that the most educated sections of the country are deprived of opportunities to serve the country while undergoing economic difficulties without jobs.
