No Sri Lankan nationals among casualties

The Sri Lanka High Commission has been informed by the British Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) that there are no Sri Lankan nationals among the casualties so far reported to them.

Identification of victims of the London blasts is still being carried out by British authorities using DNA tests.Ms Shynuja Parathasangari who has been reported missing, and Pravishan Vijeyendran who was injured and admitted to hospital are both holders of British passports and are of Sri Lankan origin, states a Foreign Affairs Ministry media release.

The High Commission is in contact with the relatives of both Ms Parathasangari and Mr. Vijeyendran in London, and has expressed readiness to assist them in whatever way possible.

British authorities say that a family reception centre has been set up at Heathrow and other airports to provide assistance to relatives who are coming to the UK and are seeking information on their relatives following the bomb attacks. Those relatives are being requested to provide the names of the travellers, flight number, date and time of arrival and the name of the victim as far in advance as possible.
