Ranil promises to rebuild tsunami destroyed houses within three months

Opposition and UNP Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe said on Monday that he would rebuild all houses destroyed in the tsunami within three months when he becomes the next President of the country.

He would also lift the 100 metre ban imposed on rebuilding in tsunami affected coastal belt the moment he is elected President. He was addressing the gathering at the conclusion of the third day of the UNP organised 'Janabala Meheyuma' demonstration at Galle.

Mr. Wickremesinghe said he would also bring the country back to normal by developing the fisheries, agriculture and tourism sectors which are at a standstill today. Mr. Wickremesinghe who said that the Freedom Alliance Government had broken apart and become inactive today questioned as to how it was going to tackle the urgent day to day problems of the people including the soaring cost of living.

He said the cost of living had become unbearable for the ordinary masses who loathed the present government.

That was why he was calling for a Presidential election to remedy all ills in the country.

Parliamentarians Dr. Rajitha Senaratne, Gayantha Karunatilleke, Vajira Abeywardene and Lionel Premasiri were also present on the occasion.
