Foreigner nabbed with fake dollar notes

The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) on Monday night arrested a foreign national while attempting to change forged US Dollar notes 'worth' over Rs. 150,000. The CID has sought Interpol help to trace the other suspects who are alleged to be involved in the forged dollar racket.

The CID investigations also revealed that the suspect had changed several forged dollar notes through a money changer in Colombo recently. The foreigner was in possession of two forged dollar notes at the time he was arrested, the CID officials said.

The CID yesterday morning handed over the forged dollar notes recovered from the suspect to the US Embassy in Colombo.
