Lankans perform at Nepal Cultural show
Sri Lanka artistes were amng the Chinese and Nepalese who performed
at an international cultural program in Nepal on Sunday evening to mark
the 59th birthday of Nepali King Gyanendra.
The program organised by the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil
Aviation of Nepal was held in the Royal Academy Hall at Kamaladi,
downtown of Kathmandu Valley.
The Chinese art troupe, Yuexiu Children's Palace of Guangzhou,
performed 12 items including dances, trio, wushu, and Urheen and Zither
solos.
Sri Lankan and Nepalese art troupes performed eight and three items.
Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Sun Heping told the inaugural ceremony
said that joint performance of the three countries' art troupes will
further strengthen cultural relations among Asian countries and lift the
friendship to a new height.
"I believe that the show gives all the audience a better
understanding of the brilliance of artistes' art expression from our
three countries and it will set an example for the promotions of
multi-cultural exchanges," Sun said.
Diplomats, high officials of Nepali government, journalists, students
were present.
