INGRIN anniversary and awards ceremony

The INGRIN Institute of Printing and Graphics held its annual Awards Ceremony at the BMICH recently. The event coincided with the celebration of the 10th anniversary of the institute.

Seven hundred and fifty successful students received their awards this year of which two hundred also emerged medal winners in the gold, silver and bronze categories. Two special awards were also presented, one of the Best Student in Printing Technological Studies and the other to the Best Student in Computer Graphic Studies.

Southern Province Governor, Kingsley T. Wickramaratne was the chief guest. INGRIN Institute commands high esteem for their standards of training in printing and graphics and it offers students the opportunity to acquire a qualification in that is recognised internationally.

INGRIN Sri Lanka has developed a reputation as a training institution of outstanding quality, insomuch that it has come to be recognized by the INGRIN Foundation of the Netherlands as a model for other countries in the region.

The institute has increased its profile of training programmes while the curricula are relevant and up-to-date with the latest technology related developments of the industry. Students on all INGRIN programmes have access to the latest thinking and practice in their chosen disciplines and those who graduate are in demand by quality employers both in Sri Lanka and overseas.

Established in collaboration with the INGRIN Foundation of the Netherlands, the Institute of Printing and Graphics is the brainchild of Kingsley T. Wickramaratne who in the early part of this year also initiated the INGRIN Graphic Media Knowledge Centre in Galle. That equal opportunity may be provided to all, Mr. Wickramaratne envisages more such modern Knowledge Centres in other parts of the country.

The Institute prides on its accomplishment of having trained 8000 students since its inception. This large output of trained personnel has had a tremendous impact on the local print media industry.

As INGRIN Sri Lanka moves in to its 11th year of operations, potential graduates can well look to the future with high prospects of employments in any part of the world.
