The National Craft Council (NCC) has set up "Nature Collection" a
sales outlet in Ambulgama, Ranala to introduce local manufacturers'
products to the local and international market. The total investment for
the project is Rs. 5 million.
NCC Chairman M.D.S. Dharmasena told the Daily News that their major
target is to provide market facilities to local product manufacturers to
increase their social and economic standards. Local products
manufacturers sell their products including sweets, curd, jaggery, rush
and reed items, cane crafts, coir-based items, wooden products, foundry
products and leather products at 15 trade stalls in the Nature
Collection.
"We have planned to introduce new locally manufactured products to
the Nature Collection to popularise local manufacturers' brand names in
the market. NCC will also provide knowledge on how to maintain good
quality and high standards on their products targeting the export
market.
We will launch trade promotion programs to give high recognition to
local based products as well," he said.
